No Respecter of Persons
Philip Sanders
God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35). In every nation, the person who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. God will "render to each person according to his deeds" (Romans 2:6). Jesus by the grace of God tasted death for everyone (Hebrews 2:9). He himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world (1 John 2:2). The Father wants everyone to be saved and to know the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
If we are like our Father in heaven and show ourselves to be His children, we will love even our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:43-45).
Sadly, some miss the point about differences in people. They love those who are like themselves and hate everyone else. This failure is not unique to any one group; it can tempt any individual of any class. It is easy to point the finger at others and miss one's own failings. Be careful how you judge others; you yourself may be guilty of doing the same thing (Romans 2:20-23). Prejudice, bias, and hate can tempt anyone. Stereotyping and labeling an entire class--any class--is both unwarranted and unfair. No class, no group, and no individual is so elite that he/she may show partiality to any other human being.
"If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality (respect of persons), you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors" (James 2:8-9).
Let us examine our hearts, watch our mouths and behavior toward others that we may not disrespect anyone anywhere at any time.
